Can't use Office2016 style while disabling AA_DontCreateNativeWidgetSiblings

3 months 2 days ago #1 by Adam
Hello,

We show OpenGL windows in our tool and thus experienced rendering problems when AA_DontCreateNativeWidgetSiblings was turned on which occurs when instantiating a Ribbon Bar. We turned off AA_DontCreateNativeWidgetSiblings which fixes the rendering issues but then the Office2016 styles don't work. Meaning at runtime the whole UI except the title bar hangs. Turning off the style fixes this.

Is there a way we can use the Office2016 styles while also having AA_DontCreateNativeWidgetSiblings turned off?

Note your source code mentions the problems of enabling AA_DontCreateNativeWidgetSiblings when rendering OpenGL:

...Material widget adds Qt::AA_DontCreateNativeWidgetSiblings attribute to the application.
Therefore, this can affect on your application which use native windows - for example, widgets with OpenGL.
*/
MaterialWidget::MaterialWidget(QWidget* parent, Qt::WindowFlags f)...

Thanks,
Adam

Can someone please help? The OpenGL rendering issues happen in a Qmdiarea inside a qmainwindow. If we can't fix this then we are looking at replacing the qmdiarea with a qtablewidget which for some reason avoids the OpenGL painting problems. The painting problem happens when non opengl mdi windows overlap the OpenGL mdi windows.

Why do the Qtitan Office2016 styles not work when this attribute(AA_DontCreateNativeWidgetSiblings) is disabled?

Also, we are paying customers. I'm using my own personal account separate from the company account.

Could you attach some screenshots describing the problem? It's even better to send a simple example with problem to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Please also specify what version of the component you are using and what operating system should be used to reproduce the issue.

I guess we can disable this flag for some cases. Can you try commenting it out in the code? Does the problem go away?

We are using Qtitanribbon 6.5 on Windows OS. Attached are screenshots showing two rendering problems. These happen when the Office2016 style is enabled and the AA_DontCreateNativeWidgetSiblings is left on as is the default.

Unfortunately it's impractical to send an example that reproduces the problem. I tried to reproduce the problem in the qtitanribbon MDI example but could not because I did not try to load the OpenGL window that we use.
